Caernarvon Township Police found the suspect of the road-rage shooting — a 59-year-old Black man from North Dinwiddie, VA — dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a white tractor-trailer in the parking lot of a shopping complex on Crossings Boulevard, State Trooper James Grothey detailed in the updated release.

He was wanted in connection with an earlier road rage incident on Interstate 76 East at mile marker 291.3 in Brecknock Township at 1:10 p.m., May 31, 2024, according to the initial release.

The incident left an unnamed 40-year-old white man from Royersford with a gunshot wound to the head, state police announced the day of the shooting. Troopers arrived at the scene within five minutes to find that the victim had been driving a white flatbed truck when someone shot at him from another vehicle, now believed to have been the North Dinwiddie man.

EMS took the man shot in the head to Reading Hospital, according to the release. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital on June 3, 2024, by the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

PSP's Major Case Team "was activated and responded to [the] scene to conduct the investigation," Grothey said.

State Police continue to seek information about this incident, specifically from anyone who was traveling on the PA Turnpike/I-76 eastbound from the Lebanon-Lancaster interchange at mile marker 266 to the area just past the Reading interchange near mile marker 291.3 on Friday, May 31, 2024, from approximately 12:45 to 1:15 p.m.

They're searching for dashcam footage or witnesses.
